Oil Myths Debunked

We here at Tim Short Acura want to be sure that you as a car owner are as informed as possible. That is why we want to debunk some common myths about motor oil so that you can get the most out of your car.

The first, and perhaps most widely spread myth about motor oil is that it needs to be changed once every 3,000 miles that are driven. This is not true for all vehicles. In fact, some cars can go up to 10,000 miles without needing an oil change. The place to see how far your car can go between oil changes is your owner's manual. The second myth is that synthetic oil can cause oil leaks. This is entirely false. There is no reason to believe synthetic oil causes leaks more frequently than traditional oil.
